#5 Cherries

What do you think? Even though cherries are a yummy snack, are they okay for Fido to eat as well?

Sure, if your pup eats a few cherries this fruit likely won't harm him. However, they're not the best food to give to your dog. Your dog can get an upset stomach or diarrhea, so it's better to give him a healthy dog treat instead. If your pooch developed a love for cherries and wolfed down a bunch of them while you're not looking, it can cause serious side effects.

Why it can be bad for dogs:

In addition to having an upset stomach and diarrhea, a dog may also vomit if he consumes too many cherries. He is more likely to have an upset stomach if he digests cherries, especially since his stomach won't know how to respond to a cherry's stems and pits. The reality is that the pits and stems from a cherry can cause blockage, which can lead to constipation and other health problems.

What to do:

If your doggy is experiencing diarrhea and an upset stomach, he should recover in a few days. However, if diarrhea continues or your pooch experiences constipation due to a digestive blockage, this will warrant a trip to the vet.
