6 Signs Your German Shepherd Needs to See the Vet

Is your German Shepherd feeling alright? Sometimes it's hard to tell if your dog isn't feeling well unless they're demonstrating completely obvious signs, like having excessive diarrhea or vomiting. If only they were able to communicate with us directly like kids do. “Mom, my tummy hurts” or “Dad, I have a headache”. Having these verbal queues from your dog would make life so much easier. And it would probably make your wallet fuller, cause you'd have a talking dog and we're pretty sure that would make you both wealthy and famous. But the important thing is that since dogs are unable to tell us specifically what's wrong, we need to make sure we are tuning into their needs and not overlook something that could be serious.

For example, have you noticed your German Shepherd urinating more than usual? If you see them getting up to use the facilities more than they normally do, act like a spy and watch them use the restroom. Are they actually urinating or are you only seeing a small amount come out? This might seem like an odd thing to observe, but frequent urination without much urine can mean your pup has a bladder infection. If left untreated, it can turn into a kidney infection. Both are painful, but the latter can require an overnight stay at the vet. Not fun!

Starting on page 2, we'll give you specific behaviors and physical signs to look for with German Shepherd that could be caused by a health concern.
