What to Look for if Your Dog is in Pain and How to Help Him Feel Better

Pug at Vet

It is interesting the little things you notice about your dog when he is not well. A dog is not overly emotional when it comes to their health, and they are known to hide the pain.

We have an interesting story about our dog, how one day out of the blue he started to perch himself beside our bed instead of jumping on it. At ten years old we figured he was just getting too old and tired to make the leap then, one day, as he moved to get up, he squealed. It had nothing to do with fatigue. Poor Max was in pain!

Our first thought was arthritis. After all, he was getting up there. But it concerned us that it seemed just suddenly to happen and he was squealing more and more. Long story short, we took him to the vet and discovered Max had a rib injury! We are now pretty sure he fell off a tall fountain in our backyard that he is always trying to scale.

The point is, we saw the signs, looked him over, and learned from our mistakes. After the break, check out some important signs that could be an indication your dog is in pain!
