Homemade Dog Food is More Expensive, Right? Nope! Learn How Making Your Dog’s Food Can Actually Be LESS Expensive

When you consider the expense of commercially created dry and wet dog foods, is it any wonder we are reading more labels – checking out ingredients – than we ever did in the past?

Not only do we want to get more bang for our buck but since our pets are a part of the family we want to make certain they too are eating foods that are tasty and nutritionally sound!

The best way to make certain our dogs are getting everything they need in their food is to make it ourselves. Now, you may think that it’s a terrific idea but far too expensive and time-consuming to go into for a meal or two a day. Certainly creating the meals may take a small chunk out of a day but the expense is not as bad as you might think!

Some of your better dry, pre-made dog foods can go up to $50.00 a bag, and if you want to feed your pooch a high-end wet food, you can easily reach $2.00 a can or container!

Homemade meals, on the other hand, can be much less expensive at $2.25 per day!

  1. Cooking diet dog food…hamburger, lard. Cranberries, green bean, carrots, pepitas and sunflower seeds. Pepitas kill parasites, so I give it to them often. I also use chicken or chicken livers in their food instead of burger, whatever is on sale.
