We were always told, when children, that a dog’s dental hygiene is determined by what he is fed. If you feed a dog well, give him some good vitamin enriched dry food, his teeth will remain strong, white and his breath will be awesome. AKA: He will remain one healthy pooch!

While that is not altogether wrong, there is much more to it.

We’ve learned over the years that manually brushing a dog’s teeth is a good thing, and it’s best to get him started early so that he can get used to it; much like a bath.

When young, while they might always appreciate your efforts, dogs seem to understand that it is something that must be done, and it could also become a wonderful bonding moment between pup and master.

If you are concerned about doggy dental heath and have questions, we have some tips and suggestions after the break. They may help you make the next move when it comes to Rover’s health care.
