  1. This is why we make our dog’s food. Manufactured “dog food” has only been around about 50 ish years. There is nothing special about it, as a matter of fact it frequently sickens them. Go to the bookstore, get a dogfood cook book and start cooking! We do it every 10 days or so, freeze it, thaw and in the pugs it goes. They have very few stools, aren’t overweight – well maybe a 1/2 a pound, don’t eat treats, and don’t beg – unless cheese is involved. WE enjoy cooking for them and we don’t have to worry about what they are eating……

  2. Not surprised. Purina dog food has alway been a low quality food sold to the masses. Rule of thumb, if you can buy your dog food at Walmart or a grocery store it’s of low quality. Go to a pet store or your vet for their food. It’s all they eat, at least spend a few extra dollars and get them decent food with good nutritional value!!

  3. Did you talk to your vet and bout making your own food? And how is it price wise? I’m interested in making my dogs good but I don’t know where to begin and I’m a college student with a tight budget

  4. There are good kibble out there you know. Pretty much jus make sure the kibble is brown, none of that colored$#%&!@* Beneful and purina are horrible foods. My dogs food, who are all healthy btw, eat brown kibble, which is lamb and rice, and occasionally we’ll add in an egg or two or some coconut oil. You also don’t have to feed your dog raw either, thank you very much. The kibble is also for the plaque that comes onto their teeth and the hard kibble helps keep it off, along with nyla bones, dentist treats, teeth brushing, etc. Also, feeding raw is not cheap. I have a budget and my dogs are happy and healthy, don’t shame anyone for using kibble cause that’s exactly what i got from your comment.

  5. I love the rachel stuff cause its good for them…i jus can’t afford it at this time but i do get food that is grain free as possible for my budget. They get nutra nugget lamb and rice. If i could afford it, i would go to rachels grain free stuff.

  6. I make it, too. My vet believes it’s much better for their health. Even the better quality store-bought stuff is still not human-grade ingredients unless it specifically says so (very rare). I make a big pot of 2/3 raw ground meat to 1/3 “other” (cooked grains and vegetables), changing up the ingredients with every batch so they get a variety.

  7. It’s about time!!! I had a pug I rescued die from eating this stuff. It’s all his owner that surrendered him gave him. He passed from liver cancer at 2 years old caused by this food!!!
