Check out the following then implement it next time you decide to take you dog out for a walk. Remember mornings and evening are usually the best time to make Fido move!
Read? Set? TEST!
- Place your hand on the ground.
- Keep it there for ten seconds.
- If you are unable to keep your hand in contact with the ground for a full ten seconds, the ground is definitely too hot for dog walking. If the ground is hot but you are able to keep your hand there the entire time, it still may be too hot for dog walking. You should limit the time of your dog walking sessions to 10-15 minutes because the ground could heat up even further as you go.
Just FYI: cement, which is lighter than asphalt tends to be cooler. Try to keep your pup’s paws off of asphalt! Better yet, have him walk on grass and in the shade whenever possible.
