As much as we love our dogs, there are times when we wish they would really listen to us rather than go off, distracted and excited, by whatever it is they have discovered.

How often has your voice, while trying to get your fur child to come to you, started off as a command then slowly eased into a slightly camouflaged beg?

The dog isn’t necessarily recognizing the “begging” in your voice but the gentleness and possibly thinking of it as “happy” or easily questioning.

It all has to do with the wiring in a dog’s brain and, sadly, no two dogs are just alike! Some do better with commands, and others appreciate the light approach. It is up to us to figure out what will work best with Fido!
