Exercising With Your Dog In Hot Weather Sucks! Try These Cool Ideas Instead

It is time to something different with your pooch. With Summer comes athletic opportunities you can’t even imagine during the cooler months. Rise to the occasion and read the following:

Cool Exercise Alternatives
Play in the water to give both you and your dog exercise and keep them cooler at the same time. Go for a swim, run through the sprinkler or go to the beach to keep active and cool at the same time. If you have the space, buy a small kiddie pool just for your dog to cool off. Put it somewhere in the yard where your dog can have access to it. Keep a big beach towel nearby to prevent your dog from running into the house soaking wet after playtime.

Hot Feet
No matter how tough their paws are, a dog can still get burned feet from extremely hot surfaces such as pavement, hot roads or even sand. If it is too hot for your bare feet, it may be too hot for theirs as well. Consider dog booties if you absolutely have to take them out in the heat.  If they won’t wear booties or you don’t have them, choose areas that are safer for a dog’s tender feet, such as regular dirt instead of sand, or grassy and shady areas such as a park with plenty of overhead tree coverage.

Rewards
Dogs usually enjoy exercise and get excited when they have a chance to go outside to dog exercise jim mcexplore and play. But remember, have common sense. Let your pup take the lead. If he can’t or won’t do the activity you’re suggesting there is probably a good reason. Let the dog tell you when it is comfortable enough to play or work-out. Believe me, they will!
