Just like it's recommended that young babies have some exposure to the outside world, it's the same way for children with asthma. If you keep a child away from germs, scents, and people for too long, they're more likely to experience more illness and allergies later in life. Even though it's important to be cautious when having a baby around people with illness, it's better to get them exposed early on rather than later.
Recently a study came out in Sweden that claims that if children grow up on a farm with farm animals and dogs, they are 15% less likely to suffer from asthma. The article mentions that obviously if a child is already allergic to dogs or cat that they shouldn't be around them, but if no allergies have shown up having them around dogs is something a family should consider. It turns out if you raise a child around animals then they are less likely to deal with asthma later in life!
Sounds like this is a solution for many parents who fear their child may inherit their allergies, right?
