What?! You’ll Never Guess Just How Much Owners Are Expected to Spend on Their Furry Friends This Year!

According to a report from the American Pet Products Association, we are expected to spend $60 billion dollars or over on their pets this year. Nearly $20 billion of that money was spent at Halloween on costumes alone!

Look below to see some interesting statistics.

Dog owners are more likely to give their pet a gift than cat owners but over the years, that gap seems to be closing.

  • Four out of ten pet owners confess to giving other people gifts and putting their pet’s name on the gift as the gift giver.

  • 54% of pets will have a Christmas stocking this year

  • 34% have a special pet-safe advent calendar (YUM)

  • 29% will receive a Christmas card from their humans even though they can’t read

  • 16% say their pets will be featured on their Christmas cards

  • 3% say their pets will be “writing” letters to Santa Paws

Between cards, doggy or kitty stockings, and gifts, no wonder why stores like Pet Smart © is making a killing during the holiday time and beyond!

And we really haven’t even touched the bonanza of purchases made all through the rest of the year. We have a friend that takes her pug in for grooming and playtime at least once every couple of weeks! If even half of dog owners did that regularly can you imagine how current pet spending averages would rise?
