When people think of big dogs, they also tend to think of intimidation. Perhaps that's because in movies, big dogs are often portrayed as guard dogs. And in those depictions, they're often growling and bearing their teeth.
Most big dogs are gentle giants. Take the Mastiff and Great Dane as examples of this. These breeds tend to be very relaxed with a pleasant and easy going demeanor. They might look frightening at first (hello…. they're HUGE!), but beneath all that girth is generally a sweet and tenderhearted pooch who just wants to be your couch potato buddy.
