10 Realities New Pug Owners Must Learn to Accept

Whether you're considering getting a Pug or already have a Pug, who's a part of the family, then you may or may not know that Pugs love to be the life of the party. Not only that but they are wonderful at showing the people they love the most just how much they care.

Pugs also love to run around and play and even though they're small dogs, that doesn't phase them. When encountering a big dog, they just want to be friends or let the bigger dog know who's in charge! LOL!

This intelligent breed takes a lot of responsibility and if we're honest, can sometimes be a handful. They suffer from anxiety if left alone for too long, and if possible they would love to be with you at all times. They love being the center of attention and you may even discover your Pug showing off by doing a crazy antic or two. Expect a lot of laughs!

If you don't have a Pug then what are you waiting for?! They make the perfect furry family members and will become best friends with your children too.

Of course, with any dog comes a lot of responsibility, and with that there are some realities you need to accept about your Pug. 

After the break, we're going to shed some light on some Pug factors you need to accept, but don't run the other direction after you read about these realities. A Pug is well worth your love and admiration because they'll give you just as much love (if not more) in return!

    I’ve found all of these to be true except the one about cold weather. My pug will go potty outside in rain, shine, or snow. I actually let her play in the snow once and she seemed to love it. She ran circles around the yard. Seemed to have a blast!

    Mine used to get eye boogers really bad, but my vet said it could be allergies or dry eye. They did a tear test for her and found her tear production to be only slightly low. She had me use optimmune (basically artificial tears) for a while and it didn’t really help. This is when I lived in Tennessee. I live in California now and her eye boogers haven’t been an issue in a long time. I think now that it was allergies.

    It helps a lot with these little guys to build them a set of steps to come down off high furniture. They’re so broad across the chest, it puts a lot of pressure on legs & shoulders when they jump down. They can quickly be taught to use them.

    How fun looking at all these pugs. I posted my baby that past away and these are my other babies. Its funny, when it comes to pugs how close people are to them. They are just so dang lovable and wonderful. This is Rosie and Lillie. Lille was found chained up, in dirt, no food or water, laying almost dead. She came to us weighing 9 pounds! She is now a happy 17 pounds.

    I have a pug I rescued. He is such a joy. I can’t imagine being without my little buddy. His name I’d Fonzi. Won’t go out in the rain, he holds it forever!!! So I try and walk him every day. He loves the walks!!!!!

    Frankie is 10 years old. She is wonderful. She doesn’t shed much any more but snores more. When she wants something she runs in circles. Faster the circles, the more she wants something. For cheese she is a blur!!!
