It’s no secret that dogs can be taught how to do tricks and understand certain things. We see it happening every day. And even when we do not out-right teach a pup they tend to pick up on a lot of things we say and do simply on instinct.
Does that make them smart? Yeah, kind of. Does that mean they understand our words? Possibly but not necessarily.
Many think dogs do not truly understand the words we say but can understand the “feeling” or tone behind our words. Perhaps when we call for Rover he gets the “ver,” has heard it before, and knows you are calling for him.
What is interesting is the components appear to be processed in different areas of the dog’s brain. Or so say the experts. Go to the next page and read more about this fascinating topic.
