Every day you are doing things that are unintentionally messing with your dog's emotions. You don't mean it, but you can't help it because that's what you're used to doing or were taught was okay to do from a trainer or even another dog owner.
Unfortunately no matter how hard we try to be the perfect pet parent, our human errors can result in a very confused pooch.
For example, you may take your pooch out for potty and catch her taking her sweet old time sniffing the flowers. So you get mad at her because you're on a time constraint. Now, is it really your dog's fault for smelling the flowers or yours for not teaching her that potty time is strictly for going to the bathroom and that there will be other occasions for casual walks and sniff fests?
And if you continue these “bad” habits without even knowing even you're doing them how are they supposed to be fixed?
So… is your dog behaving badly, or are you miscommunicating with her? It's time to stop unintentionally breaking your dog's heart, and learn how to be the best pet owner there is.
After the break, check out seven common doggy-parenting “mistakes” you can easily avoid, beginning with an easy command you may know well: “Go to your room!”

Dogs use scent like we use the written word. Their endless snuffing is finding out about their world – a newspaper, as it were. Making them walk and not letting them sniff is cruel.

My pug had been badly abused before I got him. He was 8 months old. It took him a year to bark. He is the King of my castle. He is almost 10 years old. I would not trade him for the world!!

I’m glad I got him instead of scum. The one I got him from kept him one night. He started looking for a good home. Pugs are loveable.

They sure are. The woman that had him wanted him to breed. He was 8 months old. You can see the burn marks on his legs. A friend of mine wanted him. He kept him one night. I could tell he was scared of his shadow. I felt sorry for . I’m a cat person. His sad face got me.

We dont do any of this to our 4 Pugs. Our babies always get treats when they sit tho because it took forever for us to teach them that. And we get them to come to us by calling their names and patting our knees. I love cuddling all 4 of my babies. They smell bad, but its worth it! 🙂 <3
