Many dog owners will tell anyone who wants to listen that their faithful pooch feels everything a human being does. They can usually tell by “the look on his face.” Whether this is truth or just wishful thinking is something for the experts to debate.

However, what we can decipher from a dog's non-verbals is pretty obvious. For example, f a dog’s tail is wagging it usually means he’s happy or excited. If he pulls away or appears downcast he’s probably afraid or in pain. But these are the basics, and they are usually very clear.

Can there be more we are not seeing? These are the queries that border religious and scientific controversy.

Scientifically, we’ve learned much, enough to pinpoint emotions in animals and say yes or no to declarations of canine vs. humankind with regards to emotions. So much so that religious scholars proposed that there must be more to being human beings than what meets the eye. After all, a dog and human can’t feel the same things really, right? Religious scholars insist humans have souls and canines do not.

It can be mind-boggling. So what is right and what is not as it seems? Check out the next page and the answers to your questions will be revealed!
