Back when we were kids, we laughed at our old German Shepherd. When one of us would run to the bathroom, he would sit outside the door and wait for us. Then, when we were done in the bathroom and opened the door, the dog would stand there, seemingly stunned by the smell. What might prove embarrassing today was funny and curious for us back then.

Now as adults, we know that dogs have exceptional sensory abilities and what our German Shepherd was “seeing” with his nose probably smelled similar to how the smell of a sewer smells to us. Might I add, this is very disgusting for both parties! LOL.

It’s well-known that a dog can out-smell nearly any animal. Just think about the dogs the police use to sniff out drugs during a bust and bodies after a natural disaster!
