Story of One Man’s Pug is Heartbreaking – Reminds Us That Pug Shaming is Unacceptable!

sad pug puppy

Pug shaming is no joke to this Pug owner.

You may know a few people or have seen others poke fun at pugs in public. With their face wrinkles, bulging eyes and round bodies, some people may think (non pug lover obvioucsly), that pugs aren't exactly the greatest looking breed out there.

Well, lucky for these dogs, this man is fighting for pug acceptance because he won't accept pug shaming any longer! Anyway, who would hate on pugs anyway?! Pugs deserve all the love in the world!

This pug owner recently wrote a letter to the public begging for unconditional pug love, and it's absolutely heartbreaking (and even funny at times).

This man's point-of-view will open your eyes to the unfair pug shaming that is going around in some areas. Learn about him and DJ the pug as they struggle with pug shaming on a daily basis.

  1. My Pug baby is rotten! ! But all of my Pugs have always been welcomed anywhere I took them !! I’ve had a very few say that’s the ugliest dog did he run into a parked car?? I just say what happened to yours?? Shuts em up every time! ! Pugs Rule!!

  2. I personally love Pugs they are the cutest sweetest little dogs around. I truly miss my little man had him for over 16 years even with diabetes and giving him insulin shots twice a day he made it over his entire life span. I know he was just living on love his last month. He will always be my favorite dog ever!! His name was Alphonse

  3. I can’t even wrap my head around someone shaming a dog. They do it to people all the time, is that not enough, so you now pick on man’s best friend. I accept the way any dog looks, they was the way they were born ,just as human. Shaming is just mean period. I think these are people with issues, low self esteem, so now you have to make others as bad as you feel. Shame on people who shames anyone or anything.

  4. I have two, and wherever we go people can’t get over how cute they are.
Remember, beauty is in the eye of the beholder and ugliness goes clear to the bone, which must mean the ones that make those awful comments.

  5. I don’t think he’s right. Just because his mother doesn’t understand doesn’t mean the rest of us don’t. I thought pugs were cute before I ever had one and now that I’ve been blessed with two I love them even more. Not everybody sees beauty in the same way but that doesn’t mean pugs are ignored and other things that he said. There is a very wide base of pug lovers and I just think he hasn’t been introduced to the support from all over from all the people who know and love pugs. It sounds like his own experience with his mom and not the community. I’ve never had my babies treated any different because they are pugs.

  6. This is my pug, Napoleon. Whenever we go to the park or I’m out walking him, people ooh and aww over him. They say he’s the cutest thing and everybody speaks highly of pugs. I’ve only had one person say pugs were ugly…

  7. I own 3 pugs and Adore them. Not only for their sweet nature and fantastic personality, but their beauty. I have owned quite a variety of dogs in my lifetime, and I thinks pugs are beautiful animals!!!!

  8. Me too. At first I thought he was talking about shaming like the dog shaming dog parents do when the pips do something naughty but we all find those funny. His post wasn’t well thought out and didn’t really have a public backing. It was his own deal with his mother and her problems with his pug and nothing that pugs go through in public. Obviously he missed that pugs were considered royalty in one of the Middle East countries back in the day.
