Paul Steklenski is an Army vet and spent a good portion of his life in officer training at Fort Knox in Kentucky. Little did he know, when he retired, he would be operating his own non-profit service!
A “hobby pilot”, he volunteers a great deal of time flying endangered shelter dogs to new foster homes! He states it is his passion and he honestly believes it found him and not the other way around. He is doing what he was meant to do.
It all started back in 2013. His regular commute took him past an airport and it inspired him to take flying lessons. His first instinct, once license, was to transport people but he really did not have the credentials to do so. But then Steklenski adopted Tessa, a rescue dog who’d come north from Tennessee in a van …. Might it not have been easier on the pup if he could have been flown in just an hour or two, in the comfort of an air-conditioned plane?
The pilot was now the proud Papa of a rescue dog and inspiration once again took hold. To read his story go over to the next page.
