We recognize the typical doggie signals every “best friend” communicates when he’s happy. There is tail wagging during play, sitting and looking up at you with adoration when you come home from work, and also how he pants and the expectancy as the pup positions himself next to the treat tin.

But when a dog is stressed, wants to promote peace within himself and ease anger or aggression, he also has signals. These signals were developed ages ago when your dog’s ancestors were in a pack, and they needed calming signals to let other pack members know everything was cool, and no one should be worried.

However, these signals can be quite subtle and, as pet parents, we may be missing them. Actually, not aware, we might be punishing our dogs for a behavior that is meant for calming!
