All dog owners enjoy watching their pup frolicking around off leash. Whether they're in a fenced in yard, at doggy daycare or dog par – its a nice feeling. But now some cities have given dog parents the opportunity of allowing their dogs off leach. For example, Carmel-by-the-Sea in California.

This “anti leash” trend is growing and even though many dog parents are in favor of allowing their pooch the freedom to roam the streets at their leisure, there are many that are against it.

Dog parents may not like admitting it, but whenever a dog is off leash in an area that is not fenced off, they're in danger. It doesn't matter how trained or nice your pooch is, the unpredictable nature of other dogs can harm them.

For example, your pup can accidentally encounter a person who doesn't like dogs, is riding a bike, or worse a pooch can encounter an unpredictable moving car.
