How to Properly Introduce Your Dog to the New Baby in the Family

Baby and Pug

We have always referred to our pets as “babies” and, until a baby of the human kind comes along, they are! They remain our babies, but priorities do have to change.

After all, your human baby is, no doubt, going to take attention away from your doggie, as it should. However, there are ways to get Rover through the trauma and it’s a good idea to get him started early.

Ideas like making a dry run of walking the dog with an empty stroller may seem silly but when your dog knows what is expected of him when the real deal shows up you will be glad you made the effort!

By the way, if you do have a fear that your baby and dog will have problems of the health variety, you will be happy to know that the American Academy of Pediatrics endorses that relationship.

They say children who have a dog around during the first year of life are reported to be healthier and have fewer respiratory infections than children without contact to these animals!

After the break, learn the best techniques you should know now before introducing your pooch to the new baby in the family.
