Animal Shelter Started Program Where Kids Read to Doggies Who Are in Need of a Home – Sooo Sweet!

reading to dogs

These days we are all about socializing dogs; especially those who have been in dog shelters for days on end. Think about it a minute.

Even with the best of care those pups are isolated, not yet adopted, and while living a great deal of their time in a clear box or cage. Occasionally, they might get out to run about with the other shelter dogs, but it’s not the happiest of existences.

However, when kids and books enter into the picture, you not only have that socialization but a learning tool for a child who may not realize how lonely a pooch can get!

The Shelter Buddies program of The Humane Society of Missouri has taken steps to educate these youngsters and allow them to read to dogs who might otherwise spend their days secluded and lonesome!
