We’ve always admired puppies. As they grow they develop a sort of independence and curiosity that easily shows they are ready to be weaned away from their Mommas and strike out on their own – or at least, be adopted into a human family that will love them as much as their Mom.
Still, we wonder if those pups, even while playing, snuggling and sleeping in our arms are still thinking about their brothers, sisters and, of course, Mom.
After all, in many cases, it’s mere weeks between nursing off their Momma to eating on their own. Then, weeks later, being taken away from that one-time source of nourishment and tenderness to live with a forever family!
Zoey, the Pug is a good example of a puppy that loves her human family but possibly still yearns for the days when she nestled underneath her mother to nurse and enjoyed the warmth of that close association.
