Two signs are when a dog licks his lips and starts to avoid you by backing away or not looking you in the eyes. Clearly the dog isn't just shy (well they may be), but beyond the shyness a dog's stressful behavior can lead to aggressiveness unless you and your pooch back away and take the hint.

Often times dogs do an excellent job communicating with subtle cues that we need to learn to pick up on. By watching this video and reading up on the important cues to look for, we can prevent doggie accidents from happening.

Is your pup a nervous pup that always shows the signs that “hey — I don't want you to get any closer!” or are they able to break up the tension by playing with a dog that they feel intimidated by?

It's pretty amazing to see how dogs communicate, but if a dog isn't doing that great communicating and instead is in a constant state of stress and anxiety, learn her cues and know when to step in.

It will help save her a lot of stress and save the dog and/or human who are also involved from being bitten too.
