This Writer Created a 5 Part Children’s Series Featuring Pugs… And a Few Life Lessons!

When an author gets letters from both The White House and Buckingham Palace, you have to know she pretty much is making an impression. Her message about pets being part of a family and needing care rings loud and clear!

In this educational and fun five-book series centered on pugs, The Diaries strive to get children to think about important life lessons and how they impact them.

Author Barb Poole recently retired, but wanted to tell the story of her three pugs and their journeys for children. Poole’s pugs, 8-year-old, blind fawn girl, Libby, playful 6-year-old black girl, Ebony Rose, and a spunky 4-year-old fawn girl, Pippa fill the pages with mischief and laughter.

Unlike traditional children’s books that heavily emphasize pictures with very little writing, The Diaries have at least one paragraph in every chapter.

The paragraphs are complemented with questions about your pets that range from feeding habits, health, taking them on walks, and showing them affection.

The stories come to life with the talented hand of local illustrator Jeff West, who created the scenes from photographs of the pugs with vivid detail and authenticity.

The books, which takes Poole usually between eight months to a year to write, are happy, uplifting and funny.

In addition to sending the books to local organizations focused on children, Poole has also sent them to prestigious households such as the White House and Buckingham Palace.

“Our pets don’t have a voice, and I want them to have a voice, and if I’m the voice for them, then I will continue to keep writing as long as children keep enjoying the stories.”

Author Poole wants her message of puppy love to reach more, and she has donated to many worthwhile organizations.
