If you recently got a new dog and he's getting used to the rules in your house, be patient with him. It will take him a while to get used to the guidelines you have set.
If different people in your home have not been consistent, you should think about setting up a family meeting. In order for your pooch to behave the way you want him to, everyone should be on the same page.
Alternatively, as you train your doggy not to jump up on people, for example, teach him another way to get your attention. Sitting is a great way for your pooch to get your attention without jumping or whining.
Positive reinforcement is how you will train your pup and make sure he has the rules down in your household.
