It's time for your doggy's Paw-dicure. 😉 Does he run and hide at the sight of those ghastly nail clippers? Is he a little bit dramatic when it comes to that paw time?
If this sounds familiar to you then you know how much of a struggle it can be to trim your pup's paws. Unfortunately, this is not something you can brush off and avoid just for the sake of your dog's fear.
Trimming your pup's nails will keep his paws happy and healthy. The good news is, we've found some pawsome tips (okay I know I'm having too much fun with the word paw), to help make trimming his paws less of an issue.
To find out the best ways to get your pup to tolerate a paw-dicure, check out the next page!

These are good tips, but my problem is due to an incident with a Pekingese I had growing up. My dad trimmed his nails, and of course the dog squirmed. Out came the nail and nerves or roots. Everytime I get clippers near my dogs toes, I get nervous which makes him nervous. The vet does a great job doing his nails, and neither one of us is in a panic.

We had a bad experience with a groomer, so we now have one heck of a foot shy pup. What sedative do you use?

My doxie is terrible with nail trimming! He’s so bad that I take him to the vet at 7am and he gets sedated for his nail trim. His nails are difficult to trim because they curl under when they grow out. Poor lil guy.

Monty doesn’t mind, but I use a file and he likes the snuggles. Takes a bit longer but he chills on my lap for it.

Ive had my chihuahua mix since he was 9 months hes about 2 now. He has clear nails and is so great when i clip them. Theyre always super short (i can see the quick clearly) but his nails click on the ground all the time. Ive never been able to not hear them. Im assuming that just how his nails/paws are!

I use a Human(with a wire cutter style handle)SHARP nail clipper!!! It works
FAST, does not crush/shatter the nail, and mine tolerate it!!! body temp mineral oil to soften nails makes them cut instead of shatter…Those other types of trimmers are no damn good!!!
