This Kind of Peanut Butter Is Toxic For Dogs – Watch Out!

We've all done it on occasion. We're preparing a snack, often with peanut butter, and because our pooch is looking up at us with those big “What about me?” eyes, we bend down and give him some.

It’s just a little so it shouldn’t hurt, right? In most cases that would prove correct but there is definitely something that you, as a conscientious pet owner, should watch for.

Xylitol is a sugar alcohol-derived sweetener. It has one-third the calories of regular sugar that is being used in some nut butter products. For people looking to cut back on calories, it sounds great! But the xylitol can be deadly to your dog!

If you want to be certain to avoid thousands of dollars in vet bills it’s a good idea to keep Rover away from the stuff — but it’s not always that easy. While the xylitol website (Krush Nutrition) tells you straight out to keep it away from your pets there is no labeling on the actual product that has such a warning.
