Dogs expect certain things from their human family. They anticipate being given water, food, a little outdoor time, indoor time, an occasional scrap from the dinner table and, probably more than anything else, they expect to be petted; with an occasional tummy scratch and hug thrown into the mix.
While they look at their forever human family as their Alphas, they also know they are members of a loving pack. There is a certain amount of spoiling and prestige that goes along with being the family dog(s).
Sure, they will pull their weight by being the perfect guard dog. They will chase flies out of the house and warn us that the mailman is about to attack, but compensation is required.
After the break, check out this patient little Frenchie and his expectations!
